Since the Music Center first opened its doors, we have been a major contributor to the Los Angeles cultural fabric recognized for our dedication to artistic excellence.

The Center's family, active arts, Global Pop and dance programming along with our internationally acclaimed resident companies, Los Angeles Philharmonic, laphil.org, Center Theatre Group centertheatregroup.org, Los Angeles Opera, losangelesopera.com, and Los Angeles Master Chorale, lamc.org present thousands of performance, tours and events each year.

The Music Center also provides the finest in arts education to more than 350,000 students and teachers annually through nearly 14,000 programs presented in 20 languages.

Our amazing houses, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Ahmanson Theatre Mark Taper Forum and the 2003 addition of the Frank Gehry designed Walt Disney Concert Hall comprise today's 11-acre Music Center Campus. The original site designed by architect Welton Becket was established largely through the extraordinary efforts of Dorothy Buffum Chandler who raised $20 million in private donations. The Music Center also serves as an anchor for the Grand Avenue Project, the revitalization of downtown Los Angeles.

For current Governance and Administration and more about Education, Programming and Presenting, read the Music Center At A Glance. To read the story of the Fortieth Birthday celebration, the Music Center from 1964-2005, visit The Making of a Cultural Icon.
