| Elisha Wilson-Beach - Fundamentals of Dance and Movement
Workshop:
Elisha’s workshop series provides a student-centered atmosphere to explore the foundational dance elements of space, shape, time, movement and energy. Students are guided through a series of lessons that equip them with the skills needed to choreograph their own work. The workshop encourages students to explore their individuality and creative expression while enforcing the practices of teamwork and problem solving. With each session, students are given a journal prompt that encourages them to reflect on the experience of the previous class. Elisha specializes in making curriculum connections and gladly accommodates any such request.
Elisha Wilson-Beach has performed and taught throughout the Untied States for over 10 years. She began her training at the Alabama School of Fine Arts where received the Prix Danse de Excellence Award in 1997. She later moved to New York where went on to study at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center, Dance Theater of Harlem and Steps on Broadway. In her professional career, Elisha has performed with companies such Alabama Ballet, Dance Theater of Harlem, Urban Ballet Theater and Los Angeles City Ballet. As a dance teacher, she has taught with Henry Street Settlement, Steps on Broadway and in several community outreach programs.
