 In 2005, The Music Center received a special grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for a 2005 Institute for Educators focused on an "anchor work" of art. An "anchor work" is a recognized significant work of art in any discipline that has sufficient artistic merit and intellectual heft to warrant careful aesthetic examination; rigorous analysis; criticism; and discussion of artistic principles as well as cultural, civic or social implications that students can draw from the work.

Lesson Plans developed by past Institute Participants
Past Institute participants submitted lesson plans, based on their Institute for Educator experiences. Each lesson contains clear student outcomes, connections to California content standards, detailed descriptions of activities, and comprehensive rubrics and assessments.
Curriculum Units by BRAVO Award Winners
The curriculum units were developed by the teachers who received the Music Center's BRAVO Awards. Established in 1982, the BRAVO Award recognizes educators and schools that use the arts to strengthen student academic achievement and creativity, foster self-esteem, and cross-cultural communication.
